Energy Committee Lunch & Learn Series

The American Chamber of Commerce Saudi Arabia's Energy Committee is pleased to announce the first event in the Lunch & Learn series coming up on Wednesday, January 18th, 2023 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the offices of Air Products Qudra in Dhahran Techno Valley.

The Energy Committee will host Dr. Sadad Al Husseini, who the New York Times has referred to as "one of the most respected and accomplished oilmen in the world", for a session on "The Inevitability of OPEC" with a networking luncheon beforehand and a fireside chat with Energy Committee Chairman Ebubekir Koyuncu, Co-Chairman Reid Wayman, and Dr. Sadad to follow.

Dr. Sadad will share his extensive experience in the oil and gas industry to delve deeper into how the current oil supply turmoil, triggered by the perfect storm of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, poorly financed shale oil, inadequate upstream investments, and the COVID pandemic, has led to extreme oil market volatility and insecurity.

Dr. Sadad posits that given the resultant fragmentation of the energy markets, only OPEC+ can now play an effective role in overcoming the supply challenges that have come to prevail across the world, as it has demonstrated time and again in the past its commitment to confronting such challenges by providing secure oil supplies regardless of prevailing geopolitical and economic instability.

In the spirit of ONE AmCham, a virtual option has been added to this event, allowing remote participants to engage in the AmCham Energy Committee. Virtual ticketholders will be able hear Dr. Sadad's presentation, view the Fireside Chat in real time, and submit questions for the speaker via the chat box. A Zoom link will be sent to virtual ticket holders the day before the event. The virtual portion of the event will be from 1-2pm only.

Registration for in-person participation has closed, but tickets for virtual attendance remain available through Tuesday, January 17th.
